 Trent Green-QB- RamsJun. 12 - 12:53 pm et
Trent Green has announced his retirement from football.
Green, who turns 39 next month, was originally selected by the Chargers in the eighth round of the 1993 draft. Concussion-prone in the twilight of his career, Green made his mark with the Chiefs early this decade. Under Dick Vermeil, he was one of the top quarterbacks in the league, averaging 25 TDs and over 4,000 yards from 2002-2004. He finishes with 162 TDs and 28,475 yards in 120 career games. Green plans to pursue a career in broadcasting.

 Trent Green-QB - Rams Feb. 26 - 1:48 am et

Free agent Trent Green, released by the Rams on Wednesday, says he wants to continue his playing career.
Green, 38, compared his situation to Kerry Collins and Kurt Warner's. Green isn't nearly as good as Warner, however, and he has no chance of finding receivers like Warner's to throw to. He'd also be very hard pressed to find a defense, offensive line, and running game as good as Collins' to make him look better. Retirement appears to be Green's best option at this point.

 Trent Green-QB - Rams Feb. 25 - 4:08 pm et

Rams released QB Trent Green.
The move saves $2 million in cash and $1.3 million in cap room. St. Louis had no competition to sign Green last spring and he'll be a less attractive option than fellow aging free agents Damon Huard and Jon Kitna. Green, 39 in July, is a good bet to retire after 16 pro seasons. St. Louis could now pursue Jeff Garcia as a backup. Garcia knows the new coaching staff well.
 Marc Bulger-QB - Rams Nov. 26 - 4:59 pm et

Rams coach Jim Haslett confirmed Wednesday that Marc Bulger (concussion) will play in Week 13 against the Dolphins.
Trent Green will be the backup. Bulger should be on a longer leash than last week, if only because St. Louis needs these last five games to evaluate him. Putting Green back in won't do the organization any long-term good.

 Marc Bulger-QB - Rams Nov. 24 - 5:30 pm et

Marc Bulger (concussion) must pass a neuropsych test on Wednesday to be cleared to play in Week 13.
Rams coach Jim Haslett says he doesn't think Bulger's concussion was as bad as the ones he suffered in 2005 and 2007, but he must be medically cleared to face the Dolphins. If Bulger can't go, Trent Green will start. Neither quarterback is remotely good enough to be considered in fantasy leagues.

 Trent Green-QB - Rams Nov. 23 - 3:51 pm et

The Rams made their second quarterback change of the game in the fourth quarter Sunday, inserting Brock Berlin in place of a totally ineffective Trent Green.
Other than experience (which Jeff George has too), Green offers no good qualities. He completed only 16-of-30 passes for 219 yards and four picks after Marc Bulger (head) was pulled on St. Louis' second possession. Green took four sacks in roughly three quarters of play. The Rams could go with Berlin in Week 13 against Miami, if only because their other options are terrible.
