 Clinton Portis-RB- RedskinsNov. 19 - 3:27 pm et
Clinton Portis (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Dallas.
This was expected. Portis has yet to practice this week and is still experiencing the aftereffects from his concussion two weeks after the fact. We're not counting on him to return next week either. Ladell Betts is healthier this week than last and will carry the load against the Cowboys' strong run defense.

 Ladell Betts-RB - Redskins Nov. 18 - 6:33 pm et

Ladell Betts (foot) has resumed practicing without limitations.
Betts will start against the Cowboys, and makes for a decent flex to low-level RB2 play. Despite reports of a foot sprain entering Week 10, Betts racked up 120 total yards and a touchdown on 27 touches against the Broncos.
 Clinton Portis-RB - Redskins Nov. 17 - 4:20 pm et

Clinton Portis referred to his concussion Tuesday as a "major situation" and said there's no need for him to "rush back" as long as Ladell Betts is playing well.
It's a smart stance by Portis, who is still dealing with the aftereffects of his Week 9 concussion. After seeing Brian Westbrook compound his initial concussion, Portis will treat his condition with extreme caution. There's no timetable for his return to practice, much less game action.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn said that Ladell Betts will get the ball on some second downs and get some series to himself even when Clinton Portis (concussion) gets back in the lineup.
It's a bad job by Zorn that it took an injury to Portis to realize that Betts needs to be on the field. Portis will start when he returns, but Betts should at least get half the carries. Before Portis went down, Betts had 11 carries in seven games. That will change.

 Clinton Portis-RB - Redskins Nov. 16 - 9:18 am et

When asked after Sunday's win if he'll consider starting Ladell Betts over Clinton Portis when Portis (concussion) returns, coach Jim Zorn simply said, "No."
This could be a moot point if Portis ends up sitting out the rest of the season. You can be sure the Redskins will be extra careful with Portis after seeing what happened to Brian Westbrook on Sunday. Still, after seeing the game film Zorn should realize that Betts deserves a bigger role, if not the starting job, when both backs are healthy.

 Ladell Betts-RB - Redskins Nov. 15 - 4:23 pm et

Ladell Betts rushed 26 times for 114 yards and a touchdown, and caught a six-yard pass in the Redskins' Week 10 win.
Betts showed no ill effects from his foot sprain, consistently going for 3-5 yard gains against a Denver run defense that is now being exposed routinely after a fluky hot start to the year. Betts was the Skins' featured runner, as Rock Cartwright and Quinton Ganther combined for 15 touches compared to Betts' 27. He'll remain a flex/RB2 gamble in Week 11 at Dallas.
