Rashean Mathis (groin) has been ruled out for Week 17.

Mathis' season was marred by this groin injury that has bothered him for more than six weeks. The gambling corner will return as the Jaguars' top DB next season and should improve on this season's total of three interceptions.

Rashean Mathis sat out the second half after aggravating his groin injury.

Mathis has been hampered by the injury since mid-November. If the Browns actually possessed a passing attack, they could exploit him or his potential replacement in Week 17.

Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis (groin) is due back in the starting lineup on Thursday night against Indianapolis.

"It's tracking in a positive direction," coach Jack Del Rio confirmed. Mathis has missed the last four games, so he figures to be fairly rusty. The Colts won't hesitate to throw in Mathis' direction, especially if he's on Reggie Wayne.

Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis (groin) expects to be a game-time decision Thursday.

Mathis says he's at 90 percent and he'll test the groin out in pregame before making a decision. If Mathis does play, the Jaguars could choose to put him on Reggie Wayne. In Week 1, Wayne lit up rookie Derek Cox for 10 catches, 162 yards and a touchdown.

Mike Sims-Walker-WR - Jaguars

The Jaguars do not expect WR Mike Sims-Walker (knee, calf) to play on Sunday against the Dolphins.

The Jags also aren't holding out hope on DL John Henderson (doubtful, shoulder) and CB Rashean Mathis (doubtful, groin). Mike Thomas, a rookie out of Arizona, will step in for MSW at WR. David Garrard will also be a weaker play without his top target.

Updating a previous item, Mike Sims-Walker (knee, calf) has been downgraded to doubtful for Week 14.

The upstart Jags are in trouble, as they'll also likely be without top cornerback Rashean Mathis (doubtful, groin) and top DL John Henderson (doubtful, shoulder). Mike Thomas figures to draw the start in place of Sims-Walker, but isn't a good fantasy option despite a favorable matchup against the Dolphins. David Garrard also is a weaker play without his top wide receiver.
