Fred Taylor (ankle surgery) still has not resumed practicing.
It's impressive that the Pats have been able to keep him off injured reserve so long. Taylor hasn't played or practiced in seven weeks and remains without a timetable for return. He's deservedly on most fantasy waiver wires.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday that he does not anticipate any offensive players being out for the season.
Presumably, the cryptic Belichick was referring to the status of Sammy Morris (knee) and Fred Taylor (ankle). While Taylor is expected to be sidelined until early December, Morris' status is unclear. We can rule out an ACL injury if he's not out for year, but his availability for this week remains in doubt.

Fred Taylor revealed that Thursday's ankle surgery was "more serious than a scope," but he still hopes to return this season.
Taylor suffered a high ankle sprain and also tore "a couple of ligaments" that required surgery. The Boston Globe's sources have Taylor out until at least December, so it remains likely that he'll have to be placed on injured reserve at some point.

According to the Boston Globe's Christopher Gasper, Fred Taylor could miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair "severe ligament damage" in his right ankle.
Taylor is reportedly "facing the likelihood" of being done for the year, though there is a "small chance" he could return for the final month of the season. The Patriots, however, may not be willing or able to reserve a roster spot for the next two months. Though the 33-year-old is signed for next season at $2M, the Pats may decide to move on this offseason. Sammy Morris should be picked up in 12-team leagues, and Laurence Maroney is worth a flier as well to see if he can develop a hot hand with increased carries.

According to Patriots beat writer Mike Reiss, Fred Taylor is expected to undergo surgery on his injured right ankle.
The surgery is not of the season-ending variety, but it's a good bet that Taylor will miss at least a month. Sammy Morris, now fully healthy after missing much of the preseason, has begun to take on a bigger offensive role and will likely see more touches while Taylor is out. Laurence Maroney will also see increased carries on first and second downs. If we had to choose one for a waiver pickup, it would be Morris.

Fred Taylor (ankle) missed practice for the second straight day.
Taylor isn't a fantasy option against the Broncos' new and improved 3-4 defense regardless. Expect to see Sammy Morris with an increased role if Taylor misses the game.
