Texans owner Bob McNair confirmed Sunday that the team will exercise Matt Schaub's $10 million option bonus this offseason.
While the move is a no-brainer, McNair is clearly swimming after his franchise clinched its first winning season. The Texans will miss the playoffs following Sunday night's Jets win, but McNair has also committed to keeping Gary Kubiak in 2010. Schaub, though, is underpaid at this point on his six-year, $48 million contract. Coming off the first 16-game of his career, a case can be made that Schaub is one of the league's top 5-7 quarterbacks. Source: Nick Scurfield on Twitter
