CONTRACT INFO: 2010: Free Agent
 Patrick Kerney-DL- SeahawksAug. 2 - 11:55 pm et
Seahawks coach Jim Mora indicated that Patrick Kerney will switch from left defensive end to right defensive end this season.
This is a major switch for an 11-year vet who's made his money beating less athletic right tackles. Kerney will now face left tackles, the most agile big men in football. Cory Redding will play left end on first and second down, and Kerney will probably move back there in the nickel defense. Darryl Tapp and 2008 first-round pick Lawrence Jackson will be situational backups.

 Cory Redding-DL - Seahawks Apr. 1 - 3:34 pm et

Cory Redding agreed to reduce his 2009 pay from $3.55 million to $2M and eliminate his 2010-2013 salaries when the Seahawks traded for him in March.
Redding gave up at least $25.85M remaining on the contract he signed with Detroit in 2007. He'll hit free agency at age 29 next spring, which doesn't seem like an ideal scenario. At least Seattle is getting a motivated player.

A knee injury reportedly almost nixed the Seahawks' trade for Cory Redding before further testing eased concerns.
Redding, who battled a bum knee for much of last season, had an issue with a tendon and the deal was initially delayed. He won't be ready for Seattle's first minicamps, but should be ready to start at left end by Week 1.

 Cory Redding-DL - Seahawks Mar. 16 - 6:38 pm et

The Seahawks plan to use Cory Redding at defensive end on early downs and at tackle in passing situations.
Redding struggled at end earlier in his career. He has great size and should be solid against the run, but probably won't be much of a pass-rush threat. Redding is also going to cut into youngsters Darryl Tapp and Lawrence Jackson's playing time. Colin Cole and Brandon Mebane will start inside.

Seahawks acquired DT Cory Redding from the Lions in exchange for LB Julian Peterson.
It's believed that Seattle will also receive a fifth-round pick. Redding, 28, was entering the third-year of a seven-year, $49 million deal, but he has agreed to restructure as part of the trade. Though he finished a disappointing season on IR with knee and groin injuries, Redding is expected to replace Rocky Bernard's production at defensive tackle.

 Julian Peterson-LB - Lions Mar. 14 - 1:25 pm et

Lions acquired LB Julian Peterson from the Seahawks for DT Cory Redding. Seattle will receive a fifth-round pick in the deal.
Redding is expected to restructure his original seven-year, $49 million deal as part of the agreement. Peterson, 30, returns home to Michigan after refusing to take a pay cut in Seattle. He'll provide a versatile partner for Ernie Sims on Jim Schwartz's defense. The Lions are now set to draft a quarterback or offensive tackle with the No. 1 overall pick.
