The Jets got better against the run after losing NT Kris Jenkins for the season in Week 7.
This doesn't mean Jenkins' impact was negligible, but fill-in Sione Pouha has established himself as more than just a backup-caliber nose man. With Jenkins in the lineup, the Jets allowed 115.7 rushing yards per game. With Pouha in, they gave up just 98.6 and finished No. 8 overall in run defense.

 Kris Jenkins-DL - Jets Nov. 11 - 8:32 pm et

Jets NT Kris Jenkins (injured reserve) underwent reconstructive surgery Wednesday on his torn ACL.
The Jets say they expect Jenkins back for the start of the offseason program in March, but he'll likely be limited all the way into training camp. While it's good news that Jenkins suffered a "clean tear" of the ligament, he turns 31 before next season and New York does not have good depth behind him.

The NY Daily News confirms that Jets NT Kris Jenkins has a torn ACL. He was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
The injury will require reconstructive surgery. The 30-year-old is still certain to return to the Jets in 2010 with an affordable $2.25 million salary. Jenkins had a "clean" tear of the anterior cruciate ligament, which should help his healing process. The MCL and PCL were not damaged, and he is expected to participate in the offseason conditioning program next March.

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports that Jets NT Kris Jenkins is done for the year with a left knee injury.
The exact extent of the injury isn't clear, but Jenkins is believed to have ligament damage and will likely need surgery. The Jets were allowing 4.0 yards per carry with four rushing touchdowns against, but suddenly become an easier matchup for opposing running backs. Most likely, usual DE Sione Pouha will move to nose tackle with Marques Douglas or Mike DeVito entering the starting lineup. The Jets lose quite a bit of girth up front.

According to Jets beat writer Rod Boone, some in the team's locker room are "talking" like NT Kris Jenkins' (knee) season could be over.
Meanwhile, the NY Daily News is reporting that Jenkins has ligament damage. The injury looked serious on the field and coach Rex Ryan admitted afterwards that it is "probably severe." Losing Jenkins would be extremely damaging to New York's run defense. Sione Pouha, who's been starting at defensive end, is next on the depth chart at nose tackle. The entire rotation would be shaken up.

Jets NT Kris Jenkins left Sunday's game against the Jets with a knee injury.
Jenkins got rolled into from behind and had to be helped very slowly off the field. He walked gingerly to the locker room on his own power. His return is questionable. Sione Pouha replaced him and the Jets may regret cutting Howard Green already.
