Panthers placed WR Steve Smith on injured reserve with a fractured forearm, ending his season.

He's expected to be fine in time for the start of the offseason conditioning program, which begins in March. Smith turns 31 in May but is showing no signs of slowing down. He's been a top-20 fantasy receiver in five straight seasons and six of the last seven. Smith showed a superior rapport with Matt Moore down the stretch and could benefit if Moore keeps the starting QB job in 2010.

Steve Smith had successful surgery to repair his broken left radius on Monday.

Smith is expected to be placed on injured reserve Tuesday. He should be fine for the offseason program.

Steve Smith broke his left radius in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Smith's season is obviously over and he will have surgery on Monday. The injury happened when he took a big hit from Giants S Michael Johnson while scoring a 27-yard touchdown. Smith's value was actually on the rise with Matt Moore playing so well, but who will be throwing the ball to Smith in 2010 is unclear right now.

Steve Smith was taken to locker room in considerable pain after injuring his left forearm in the third quarter Sunday and will not return.

Smith took a huge shot from Giants S Michael Johnson just after catching a pass over the middle, but bounced off it and scored a 27-yard touchdown. He immediately held his left wrist and trainers put him on the cart when he got back to the sidelines. It's very possible that his Smith's forearm is broken. He had five catches for 60 yards with that touchdown before leaving.

Steve Smith caught nine balls for 157 yards and a touchdown in Week 15's win over Minnesota.

Smith and Matt Moore flashed rapport on deep balls in Moore's Week 13-14 starts, but it all came together in this one. The duo hooked up for bombs of 45 and 42 yards, the latter going for a third-quarter TD on which Smith sliced open an Antoine Winfield-Madieu Williams double team. Next up for Smith is the Giants, who've been giving up huge plays in the passing game of late.

Steve Smith caught two balls for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' Week 14 loss to New England.

He also picked up five yards for a first down on one rush out of the Wildcat, and had two more on another carry. Smith beat Shawn Springs after Pats S Brandon Meriweather bit on a play-action fake for his 41-yard touchdown bomb. Keep Carolina's No. 1 receiver going against Minnesota in Week 15.
