Bears named Rod Marinelli assistant head coach/defensive line and signed him to a three-year contract.
Marinelli's contract will make him the second highest paid coach on Chicago's staff, behind only Lovie Smith. This is a potentially difference making hire for Tommie Harris and company. The Bears' Tampa 2 system is founded on pressure from the front four and Marinelli has taught the scheme in both of his NFL stops (Bucs, Lions). Chicago returns a lot of talent up front in 2009 and the players should benefit. Marinelli is a motivator and a teacher.
