The Bears have moved Hunter Hillenmeyer back to middle linebacker, according to an ESPN.com source.

Hillenmeyer played on the strong side in Week 7 as Nick Roach continued to man the middle. But Hillenmeyer, who missed the four weeks leading up to Week 7 with a rib injury, is a better fit in the middle at least from a mental perspective. He has the experience to make adjustments at the line. Roach shifts back to the strong side, which is probably a more natural spot for him even though he played fairly well during his stint inside.

Bears LB Hunter Hillenmeyer (ribs) returned to the starting lineup in Week 7 at strong-side linebacker.

Hillenmeyer had been out since Week 3 due to a cracked rib. He finished with three tackles and has to be a little uneasy after the Bears were gashed by Cedric Benson for 189 yards. The Bears were doing a good job against the run before this one. Still, Hillenmeyer isn't going anywhere with Pisa Tinoisamoa (knee) out for the season.

Bears LB Hunter Hillenmeyer returned to full participation Thursday for the first time since suffering a cracked rib in Week 3.

Hillenmeyer will likely start on the strong side Sunday with Nick Roach remaining in the middle. The Bears have continued to play well against the run even with the wave of injuries at linebacker.

Pisa Tinoisamoa-LB - Bears

Bears SLB Pisa Tinoisamoa is deciding whether to have season-ending surgery on his right knee, a source tells Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.

Tinoisamoa suffered articulating cartilage damage, but no meniscus damage in Sunday night's loss. He ruptured the PCL in that same knee in Week 1. Tinoisamoa is going to get a second opinion before deciding if he can play through the injury. Jamar Williams would probably take over for Tinoisamoa, at least until Hunter Hillenmeyer (ribs) gets healthy.

Bears MLB Hunter Hillenmeyer (ribs) has been ruled out for Week 6.

Chicago will have a tough time stopping Michael Turner on Sunday Night Football, but Hillenmeyer's absence won't be the reason. Nick Roach has filled in adequately. Jamar Williams and Lance Briggs will start outside.

Bears SLB Pisa Tinoisamoa (knee) has resumed practicing without restrictions.

He'll rejoin starting lineup Sunday at Atlanta. Look for Nick Roach to continue to start at middle linebacker for Chicago because Hunter Hillenmeyer (ribs) remains out of practice. Lance Briggs will stay at weak side.
