The Patriots are using a rare four-man rotation at cornerback this season, with Leigh Bodden playing the most.
Bodden has played 75% of the snaps, while Jonathan Wilhite plays second most (66%) and rookie Darius Butler (55) is third. Shawn Springs brings up the rear at 49%. The plan has worked, as New England ranks fifth against the pass and isn't giving up nearly as many big plays as last year's secondary.

 Leigh Bodden-DB - Patriots Jul. 3 - 10:18 am et

Boston Globe beat writer Chris Gasper thinks that Patriots CB Leigh Bodden "could have a Pro Bowl year."
Gasper says Bodden is the team's No. 1 corner and will start opposite Shawn Springs. Don't sleep on Bodden as an IDP target. The Pats, as uaual, will be thrown at often by opponents, leading to big-play and tackle chances.

Leigh Bodden is running as the Patriots' first-team right cornerback at Organized Team Activities.
Shawn Springs will likely start at left cornerback with Jonathan Wilhite, rookie Darius Butler, and Terrence Wheatley competing for nickel duties. No team has upgraded its secondary as much as the Patriots this offseason.

The Patriots reportedly had a four-year, $16 million offer on the table for Leigh Bodden before he signed his one-year, $2.25 million deal Wednesday.
The Patriots also agreed not to franchise tag Bodden as part of the deal. It's a gutsy move, but we like the confidence. Bodden is betting on rehabbing his value in a perfect system for his skills. He has a lot of competition, but we like Bodden's chances to start at cornerback.

The Boston Globe disputes the NFL.com report that Leigh Bodden's one-year deal is for the veteran minimum of $750,000.
According to the Globe, the deal calls for $2.25 million with $1 million guaranteed. It's still a good deal for the Pats as Bodden was undervalued on the market. Bodden remains hopeful of signing a long term deal with the Pats down the road.

Patriots agreed to terms with CB Leigh Bodden on a one-year contract. NFL.com's Vic Carucci reports that the deal is worth $750,000.
After dealing Matt Cassel, the Pats' top priority was upgrading the secondary and they've executed. Bodden returns to a mostly man-to-man scheme after failing to adjust to Detroit's heavy zone. He flashed shutdown ability early in his career with Cleveland and is only 27. Bodden brings needed size (6'1/192) to New England and will compete to start. With Shawn Springs, Ellis Hobbs, and Bodden at corner, the Pats' pass defense looks much improved.
