The Jets worked out free agent RB Chris Perry earlier this week.
None of the Jets' backs (Thomas Jones, Shonn Greene, Danny Woodhead) are known to be injured. They are also carrying Chauncey Washington, who they signed off the Cowboys practice squad last week and then deactivated him on Sunday. It's possible they just wanted to see what kind of shape Perry, a first-round pick in 2004, is in.

The Chiefs worked out free agent RB Chris Perry this week.
Back from the dead. Perry, the No. 26 overall pick in 2004, fell out of the league last offseason after a dreadful 2008 campaign that began with him starting at tailback for the Bengals. How far the Cincinnati running game has come. Perry was drafted by the UFL's Orlando Tuskers over the summer.

Police have issued a warrant for free agent Chris Perry's arrest on failure to pay taxes to the City of Wyoming in 2006 and 2007.
Perry, cut by the Bengals in April, failed to show for a June 17 hearing. The 2004 first-rounder is expected to start at running back for the Orlando franchise of the UFL this season.

Bengals released RB Chris Perry.
Perry, 27, began 2008 as a starter but was the NFL's worst first-string back before losing his job to in-season pickup Cedric Benson. Various injuries have sapped Perry's explosiveness and he probably isn't even capable of being an asset on third downs any longer. No one will rush to sign him.
