Bears placed RB Kevin Jones on injured reserve with ligament damage in his ankle, ending his season.
The Bears are desperate for running back help behind Matt Forte. Jones is still just 27 and should be given a chance to regain his backup job next summer with only a $1.15 million salary, depending on who Chicago brings in. Neither Garrett Wolfe not Adrian Peterson is an option to carry the load.

 Kevin Jones-RB - Bears Sep. 4 - 4:19 pm et

Bears RB Kevin Jones is out for the season after suffering torn ligaments in his left ankle Thursday night.
The guy can't catch a break. As Dynasty leaguers surely know, Jones has missed much of the past four seasons with thigh, hip, elbow, shoulder, Lisfranc and ACL injuries. He'll be sidelined for at least 8-10 weeks after undergoing surgery. The Bears, who handed Jones a two-year, $3.5M deal this offseason, will be in the market for a backup tailback. In the meantime, Matt Forte will shoulder the load as he did last season.

Bears backup RB Kevin Jones left Thursday's game with an ankle injury on the team's second series.
Jones, starting in place of Matt Forte, landed awkwardly after leaving his feet to pick up extra yardage. After trying to apply pressure to the ankle, he had to be carted off the field. It sounds like it could be a serious sprain, which could sideline for the first couple of weeks of the season.

According to beat writer Brad Biggs, RB Kevin Jones has been one of the gems of camp so far.
Jones is fully clear from his ACL surgery and is ready to take a few extra carries away from Matt Forte. He's a must-have if you draft Forte.

According to Bears beat writer Vaughn McClure, backup RB Kevin Jones' "burst is back."
Only positive reports have come out of Bears camp on Jones, who figures to spell Matt Forte a little more often this year. Jones has also lost some weight and will be a must-have handcuff to Forte.

 Matt Forte-RB - Bears Jul. 31 - 8:12 pm et

Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner plans to use Matt Forte and Kevin Jones in the backfield together at times this season.
It's not unusual to hear this kind of talk in training camp, but it rarely carries over into the regular season. Jones has looked more explosive this offseason, and Turner insists the team will spell Forte more often. Jones will make for a better handcuff this year, but Forte's all-around game makes it hard to keep him off the field for long stretches.
