Saints re-signed MLB Jonathan Vilma to a five-year, $34 million contract with $17 million guaranteed.
Of that money, $23 million is available in the first three years. The Saints received a late scare from the Bucs, but Vilma returns as the centerpiece of new coordinator Gregg Williams' defense. The 27-year-old had knee troubles in 2007, but played every defensive snap last season. New Orleans is now assured of keeping both Vilma and its first-round draft pick. Source: NFL.com
