Panthers WLB Thomas Davis (injured reserve, torn ACL) will have reconstructive knee surgery on November 30.
The team is presumably waiting for the end of the month because the knee is still swollen. Davis will hit free agency, probably as a restricted FA, just three months removed from surgery. Carolina should be able to retain him.

Panthers will place WLB Thomas Davis on injured reserve with a torn right ACL, ending his season.
It's a major blow to an already undermanned run defense. Davis was playing as fast and aggressively as he has in his career, leading the team in tackles with 8.7 per game and making big plays in coverage (5 PBUs, 2 INTs). Davis will be recovering from a knee reconstruction when he enters free agency in March, pending a CBA agreement. He'll be an RFA if no deal is struck.

Panthers coach John Fox gave no specifics at his Monday presser, but strongly indicated that Thomas Davis' knee injury is serious.
"I feel bad for him and his family," Fox said. Davis was having his best year in a contract season. He probably has ligament damage and may be in danger of missing the last eight games. Look for a roster move on Wednesday.

Panthers WLB Thomas Davis was limping noticeably while leaving the stadium after injuring his knee in Sunday's loss.
The injury is to the same knee that Davis had a sprained MCL in during training camp. He'll likely undergo an MRI to see whether he suffered any ligament damage. Davis' backup at weak-side linebacker is Landon Johnson.

Panthers WLB Thomas Davis was carted off the field with a knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Saints.
He's done for the day, and it looked like it could be a serious injury. His loss would be devastating for the Panthers defense. Davis had been playing at Pro Bowl level while leading the team in tackles.

Panthers WLB Thomas Davis (hamstring) returned to a full practice Thursday and is fully expected to start against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Davis remains the team's leading tackler, and the run defense has improved since signing DT Hollis Thomas three weeks ago. Expect Arizona to stay with a pass-heavy approach with FS Charles Godfrey out this week.
