Simms was hideous in spot duty this season and the Broncos need to make a decision on him. They could choose to look for a veteran to back up Kyle Orton or just go with No. 3 QB Tom Brandstater.

Kyle Orton (ankle) participated in Broncos practice Monday.
Chris Simms got the start in Week 11, but was yanked after completing just 2-of-4 attempts for 10 yards. Orton came on to throw for 171 yards, no TDs, and a pick. Despite ligament damage in his ankle, Orton is being pushed to start against the Giants on Thanksgiving Day. He'd be a very poor QB1 play.

Kyle Orton completed 15-of-29 passes for 171 yards and an interception against the Chargers in Week 11.
Chris Simms started the game and once again looked hapless, completing just 2-of-4 passes for 10 yards and losing a fumble. A hobbled Orton came on to a chorus of cheers to start the fourth series and immediately began moving the offense. The momentum stalled with a goal-line fumble, and the passing game fell flat thereafter. Orton didn't re-injure his ankle, so he'll likely start Thursday against the Giants.

Kyle Orton (ankle) is a surprise active in Week 11, but the Broncos have not named an official starter for the Chargers game.
Orton worked out prior to the game and may have convinced coach Josh McDaniels to let him give it a shot. If so, he's a poor bet to finish the game healthy. Beat wirter Frank Schwab seems to believe that Chris Simms will start regardless, so stay away from this situation in fantasy leagues. Broncos inactives: QB Tom Brandstater, RB LaMont Jordan, WR Brandon Lloyd, OT Ryan Harris, DL Chris Baker, DE Robert Ayers, WR Kenny McKinley, and OG Seth Olsen.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirms that Chris Simms will start for the Broncos on Sunday against the Chargers.
Starting Simms is the smart move for the Broncos, as they don't want to risk further injury to Kyle Orton's ankle. Simms was awful in relief of Orton last week, completing just 3-of-13 pass attempts with a pick. Look for the Broncos to try and pound the ball on the ground today.

It will take an "overnight medical miracle" for Kyle Orton (ankle) to start Sunday, according to the Denver Post.
The Post fully expects Chris Simms to get the nod, although Orton has not been ruled out. Orton will likely test the ankle in pregame tomorrow, but no one should be waiting on this decision considering the 4:15 ET start time. Simms was wretched in relief of Orton last week, completing just 3-of-13 attempts with an interception.
