Chargers declared ILB Kevin Burnett inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
It's a big loss as third stringer Brandon Siler will have to start. CB Dante Hughes, ILB Tim Dobbins, C Nick Hardwick, third QB Charlie Whitehurst, DT Vaughn Martin, WR Buster Davis and G Tyronne Green are the Chargers' other inactives.

ILB Brandon Siler is likely to start for the Chargers against the Giants on Sunday.
With Kevin Burnett (questionable, ankle) and Tim Dobbins (doubtful, knee) likely out, the third-year man out of Florida will make his first career start. This is good news for the Giants' Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw.

Chargers ILB Kevin Burnett (ankle) is expected to return from his ankle injury for this week's game against the Giants.
Burnett has missed the last two games and his backup, Tim Dobbins, hurt his knee in Week 8. Burnett had 32 tackles and one sack in five games before getting hurt.

Burnett was injured in the Week 6 loss to Denver on Monday Night Football. Tim Dobbins replaced Burnett in Week 7, racking up 11 tackles and picking off a pass.

Tim Dobbins came in to replace Burnett on the inside next to Stephen Cooper.

Kevin Burnett and Tim Dobbins are in a rotation at inside linebacker.
Burnett reportedly won the job out of camp and was going to be an every-down player, but that plan has quickly fallen through. "I think it's pretty good; I think it helps them," coach Norv Turner said of the rotation. "Burnett plays an awful lot on special teams, Dobbins is a physical player."
