Derek Anderson's $2 million offseason roster bonus is reportedly due on March 19.
Teams can begin making cuts the day after the Super Bowl, though the Browns figure to shop Anderson around for the next few weeks to see if they can get a late-round pick for him. They most likely won't find any takers. D.A. seems to be damaged goods at this point, but should generate interest from teams that run vertical offenses. The GM in Baltimore knows him well.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto, "it's doubtful" that team president Mike Holmgren sees either Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson as the long term answer at quarterback.
Both quarterbacks have career completion percentages under 53.0 and passer ratings under 70.0. Worse, the Browns actually had more rushing yards than passing yards this season. It will be interesting to see if Holmgren tries to reunite with Matt Hasselbeck, who is at a crossroads in Seattle.

Derek Anderson completed 7-of-11 passes for 86 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception in the Browns' Week 17 win.
In likely his last game with Cleveland, Anderson took a backseat as the Browns called 49 run plays compared to 11 passes. They didn't try a single throw in the third quarter. D.A. won't last on the club through March, when he is due a $2 million roster bonus. The Browns may show interest in Matt Hasselbeck on the trade market, or possibly draft a franchise QB in April.

Derek Anderson completed just 8-of-17 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in the Browns' Week 16 win.
Week 17 will be Anderson's last game in a Browns uniform. The Browns used a decidedly run-heavy approach in the 23-9 rout, calling 46 run plays compared to 17 passes. Anderson was asked to "manage" the game and avoid turnovers. He did a good job of that, but simply doesn't complete a high enough percentage of his passes to be a legitimate NFL quarterback.

Derek Anderson has a 14.6 passer rating against the blitz, according to Scout.com's Ed Thompson.
Thompson broke down quarterback stats when faced with six or more rushers and found out that Anderson performs the worst in the league in that situation. The Browns are trying to go with a little no huddle, but it's not going to save D.A. Sunday's Raiders vs. Browns game won't be for the faint of heart.

Browns coach Eric Mangini confirmed that Derek Anderson will start the final two games with Brady Quinn (foot) on injured reserve.
Anderson sports a 42.9 completion percentage, 4.4 yards per attempt, and a 36.2 passer rating in six games this season. Needless to say, he's not a fantasy option against the Raiders or the Jags. No matter how well he plays, he's not likely to see the $2M roster bonus he's owed on March 1.
