Ryan Grant | Running Back

TEAM: Green Bay Packers
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'1' / 226

COLLEGE:Notre Dame
CONTRACT INFO: 8/5/2008: Signed a four-year, $20 million contract. Details
 Ryan Grant-RB- PackersFeb. 9 - 9:22 am et
Ryan Grant has escalators in his contract that the Packers likely won't want to pay in 2011.
Grant has a roster bonus based on cumulative yardage that could add $2M or $4M to his pay in 2011. For example, if he rushes for 1,253 yards again in 2010, he'd be set to earn $5M in base salary, a $2M roster bonus and another $2M in bonuses he's already scheduled for. As beat writer Pete Dougherty points out, the Packers would probably work out a long-term deal, ask him to take a pay cut or release Grant before paying him $9M in 2011.

 Brandon Jackson-RB - Packers Jan. 27 - 11:42 pm et

The Packers reportedly intend to find a speed back this offseason to "push" Ryan Grant.
This doesn't bode especially well for Brandon Jackson, who can pick up the blitz and catch a pass here or there, but offers little to no explosion. Ahman Green definitely won't be back. Green Bay could look at rookies like Dexter McCluster and Keith Toston, or Darren Sproles if he gets to free agency.

 Ryan Grant-RB - Packers Jan. 10 - 8:27 pm et

Ryan Grant ran for 65 yards on 11 carries and caught two balls for 18 yards in the Packers' playoff loss to the Cardinals.
Getting down 17 early didn't help, but the Packers refused to run despite having consistent success doing it. Quietly one of the game's better pure downhill runners, Grant has proven remarkably durable in his three seasons as a starter. He's also highly effective late in the year; Grant averaged 4.7 YPC after the halfway point in 2009. The 27-year-old got a late start on his career and should have at least three strong seasons left. The Packers won't bring in serious competition this spring.
 Ryan Grant-RB - Packers Jan. 4 - 4:51 pm et

By eclipsing the 1,250-yard rushing mark in Week 17, Ryan Grant hit an escalator in his contract that will push his 2010 salary to $4.5 million.
The salary was initially $3 million. Grant activated another incentive by finishing among the NFC's top-five rushers, pushing the salary even further to $5 million. He ranks behind only Adrian Peterson and Steven Jackson.

 Ryan Grant-RB - Packers Jan. 3 - 7:35 pm et

Ryan Grant rushed 11 times for 51 yards and a touchdown against the Cardinals in Week 17.
Grant plunged in from a yard out for an early score and was firmly on the bench by the second half. He hit another seven-figure incentive on his contract when he went over 1,250 yards. Getting stronger as the season went on for the third straight year, Grant finished eighth among running backs in fantasy points. He toted 282 times for 1,253 yards and 11 touchdowns, stopping all talk of the Packers looking to replace him as the feature back next season.
 Ryan Grant-RB - Packers Dec. 27 - 4:27 pm et

Ryan Grant rushed 16 times for 97 yards and two touchdowns in Week 16 against the Seahawks.
Green Bay went pass-happy last week, but fed Grant quite a bit in an easy win over Seattle. He dove in for a goal line touchdown in the first quarter and then broke free for a 56-yard score in the second quarter, making Deon Grant look silly in the process.
