Cowboys OL Cory Procter could be cut despite starting at left guard last season.
If Procter makes the team, he'll earn $1.545 million. He's moved back into a reserve role behind Kyle Kosier, however, and Ryan Gibbons would be a much cheaper alternative.

Cowboys signed restricted free agent OL Cory Procter to a one-year, $1.545 million contract.
Procter, 26, started 11 games in place of injured LG Kyle Kosier last season and can play center in a pinch. He'll enter 2009 as a top reserve.

The Cowboys extended second-round tenders to restricted free agent WR Sam Hurd, DE Stephen Bowen, and OL Cory Procter.
Bowen has the best shot of the three to start in 2009. He's been groomed to replace DE Chris Canty. Procter filled in at LG last year while Kyle Kosier battled a foot injury. Hurd is T.O.'s backup and a gunner on kick coverage.
