 Jay Cutler-QB- BearsFeb. 4 - 1:33 pm et
Though he was the object of heavy criticism from Mike Martz last season, Jay Cutler is excited about his new offensive coordinator.
"I felt very comfortable with him," Cutler said. "The results of his offense speak for themselves." Cutler has been a bit of a hothouse flower in the past, so it's nice to see he won't be holding anything against Martz as they work to turn his career around.

 Jay Cutler-QB - Bears Feb. 1 - 3:40 pm et

Jay Cutler projects to benefit from the Bears' hire of Mike Martz as offensive coordinator.
Martz is a pass-happy coach whose system requires its quarterback to consistently make throws outside the numbers at the intermediate and deep levels. Cutler has the arm strength to be highly effective in the scheme. His yardage total and yards-per-attempt average are virtually certain to rise. Martz also has a knack for keeping running backs heavily involved in the passing game, suiting one of Matt Forte's primary strengths.

Mike Martz flew to Tennessee to meet with Jay Cutler over the weekend, sources tell the Chicago Tribune.
Martz had the Bears' blessing for the trip and he looks like the frontrunner for the vacant offensive coordinator job. Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers interviewed last Thursday and also appears to still be in the mix. Martz would give Cutler some real upside in fantasy circles next season, while Greg Olsen's outlook would take a major hit.

There are reportedly "rumblings at the Senior Bowl" that the Bears can't find an offensive coordinator because candidates are turned off by the prospect of having to coach Jay Cutler.
The perception, presumably, is that Cutler ran ex-Bears OC Ron Turner out of Chicago, which it would be hard to disagree with. It would also be hard to argue that Turner did a good enough job in the first place. There is a more logical perception that OC candidates don't want to work under head coach Lovie Smith, who's entering a "win or else" situation in 2010.

The Bears have involved Jay Cutler in interviews with potential offensive coordinator candidates.
Despite his train-wreck debut season in Chicago, Cutler remains the most important member of the Bears offense. Expect the new coordinator to build around Cutler and the passing game.

Fired Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner said that the expectations on Jay Cutler were too high and they took a toll on the quarterback.
"I don't know if that was realistic with the issues we had on the offensive line and with the young receivers. We all knew it was going to take some time," Turner said of the lofty expectations. We're pretty sure that expectations didn't throw 26 interceptions this season -- Cutler did. The late-season arrival of Devin Aromashodu and rumors that Mike Martz could step in to Turner's old shoes are giving Cutler's dynasty owners some hope right now.
