DeAngelo Williams said the ankle injury that kept him out of Weeks 16 and 17 is completely healed.
It better be, because Williams played in the Pro Bowl. The ankle won't be an issue at all this offseason, but Jonathan Stewart's emergence will be. Stewart had 331 yards on 44 carries over the final two weeks of the year and he could very well be a better option for the Panthers in 2010. We'd expect an even timeshare at the very least.

 DeAngelo Williams-RB - Panthers Jan. 3 - 11:45 am et

Panthers declared RB DeAngelo Williams, RB Tyrell Sutton, T Rob Petitti, DE Hilee Taylor, DT Derek Landri, CB C.J. Wilson, LB Morty Ivy, and third QB Hunter Cantwell inactive for Week 17.
D-Will played well when he was healthy in 2009, but is going to finish out of the top-ten fantasy running backs as Gregg Rosenthal so boldly predicted before the season. Jonathan Stewart is arguably proving to be the better option anyways, so don't look for Williams' outlook to improve much in 2010.

DeAngelo Williams (doubtful, ankle) missed his third straight day of practice Friday.
Jonathan Stewart is on track to make his second straight start, and is a legitimate candidate for 30 carries against the Saints. The Panthers are likely game planning with a run-heavy mindset because Steve Smith (fractured arm) is done for the season. Stewart is also coming off a 222-yard game.

 DeAngelo Williams-RB - Panthers Dec. 31 - 1:04 pm et

DeAngelo Williams (ankle) was held out of Panthers practice once again Thursday.
At this point, it would be a surprise if Williams plays in the season finale. He hasn't sniffed the practice field since injuring the ankle during the Week 15 win over the Vikings. Jonathan Stewart is looking like a RB1 play against the Saints this week.

 DeAngelo Williams-RB - Panthers Dec. 30 - 2:01 pm et

DeAngelo Williams (ankle) was held out of Panthers practice Wednesday.
This doesn't mean that Williams is out for the season finale, but it's not a good sign. There's not much motivation for the Panthers to put their Pro Bowler in at less than 100 percent. Look for Jonathan Stewart to carry the load again.

 DeAngelo Williams-RB - Panthers Dec. 28 - 1:22 pm et

Panthers coach John Fox said Monday that he has "reason to believe" DeAngelo Williams (ankle) will be able to return in Week 17.
Williams has missed the last seven quarters with his ankle sprain. The Panthers host New Orleans in their season finale. The Saints have struggled badly to stop of late with DT Sedrick Ellis playing through a knee injury.
