 Daniel Bullocks-DB - Lions Aug. 19 - 5:38 pm et

Lions waived/injured SS Daniel Bullocks.
Bullocks started 15 games in 2008 and racked up 93 tackles behind a leaky Lions front seven, but he was often burnt in coverage and has chronic knee issues. Still, it'll be interesting to see if he's claimed on waivers. When healthy, Bullocks can be useful as an early-down safety and special teamer.

The Lions have shut SS Daniel Bullocks down for the time being while he gets a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on his troublesome knee.
Bullocks is all but out of the mix to retain his starting job. "He's not day-to-day, he's a little bit longer than that," coach Jim Schwartz admitted. "He's missing things and he's getting a little bit farther behind." He should still make the team.

Lions SS Daniel Bullocks will have his knee examined by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday.
Bullocks is having more trouble with same knee he tore his ACL in two years ago. Andrews performed his initial reconstructive surgery. If Bullocks needs another procedure, Kalvin Pearson's grip on the starting job will tighten.

The Lions' trade of Gerald Alexander may indicate that Daniel Bullocks will get another shot to win back his starting strong safety job.
With rookie Louis Delmas entrenched at free safety, Bullocks and Marquand Manuel are Detroit's best options on the strong side. Special teamer Kalvin Pearson probably isn't a realistic consideration. Bullocks has better ball skills and upside than Manuel, 30. This is an IDP situation to monitor.

Gerald Alexander and Kalvin Pearson split time at strong safety with the Lions first-team defense during Tuesday's minicamp.
While rookie Louis Delmas is locked in at free safety, the new coaching staff has been less than content with its option at strong safety. They no longer see Daniel Bullocks as a starter, and free agent Marquand Manuel was recently brought on board as another option.
