Free agent S Jimmy Williams has been suspended for "at least" one year for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to Howard Balzer.
No wonder the 49ers gave up on him so quick. The 37th pick overall in 2006, Williams has turned out to be a complete bust. We may not see him again.

49ers waived S Jimmy Williams.
Williams' weight still wasn't where it needed to be after he signed a "two-year" deal in January. The 25-year-old should get another shot elsewhere.

Futures contract signee Jimmy Williams weighed 220 pounds when the 49ers added him to their roster in January.
It's a start for Williams, whose weight was an issue during his Atlanta days. Williams' playing weight is 216. The former Virginia Tech corner will be tried at free safety in San Francisco, so getting closer to 200 would be ideal.
