Falcons rookie Christopher Owens started at left corner against the Bucs on Sunday.
The Falcons are grasping for any kind of stability at the position, where Brent Grimes and Tye Hill have both been benched since Week 1 starter Brian Williams was lost for the season. Coach Mike Smith said, "It was nice to see one of our draft picks come in and play so well." Owens, a third-round pick, will get a much tougher test against Donovan McNabb next week.

Brent Grimes returned to the Falcons' starting lineup Sunday, taking over for Tye Hill at left cornerback.
This helps explain Eli Manning's nearly 400-yard passing day. Grimes has consistently been picked on by opposing quarterbacks for the last 1 1/2 years. Hill isn't a clearly-superior option, but Grimes can't stop anyone.

Falcons LCB Tye Hill was benched in favor of Brent Grimes during Sunday's loss to the Panthers.
Hill was not injured as some suspected. Atlanta's secondary has been beat up by injuries and can't seem to settle on a lineup. No team has given up more pass plays of 20+ yards this year. It's a position for opponents to attack.

Brent Grimes and Chevis Jackson will likely share nickel duties. Hill is finally fulfilling his promise as a cover cornerback and playmaker. He returned a pick 62 yards for a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Redskins.

Falcons coach Mike Smith declined to name a starter at left corner for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
Tye Hill started on Monday night, but struggled with cramps and was beaten by Marques Colston for a touchdown. Brent Grimes stepped in and missed some tackles but had a pretty interception. It's clear the Falcons are missing Brian Williams, who is out for the season with a knee injury.

Hill was beaten for a touchdown by Marques Colston, cramped up and was replaced by Brent Grimes, who later made a great interception. It's unclear who the starter is heading into this week's game against the Redskins.
