CONTRACT INFO: 7/27/2007: Signed a five-year, $9.55 million contract. Details
 Torry Holt-WR- JaguarsJan. 30 - 9:26 pm et
Jags GM Gene Smith wouldn't commit to bringing back "decision players" such as Torry Holt and Reggie Nelson this offseason.
Also on the list are DE/OLB Quentin Groves, OT Tra Thomas, and C Brad Meester. Holt has declined to the point where he struggles to separate from defenders, and he offers no playmaking ability whatsoever. Mike Thomas could ascend to his starting spot in 2010. Nelson has regressed into one of the worst tacklers in the league and is no longer deserving of a roster spot.

 Quentin Groves-DL - Jaguars Jan. 4 - 3:00 pm et

Beat writer Vito Stellino expects the Jags to part ways with OLB/DE Quentin Groves and FS Reggie Nelson this offseason.
Groves had trouble with the Jags' gradual switch to a 3-4 defense, and he spent most of the season in coach Jack Del Rio's doghouse. Nelson has regressed terribly the past two seasons, turning into one of the worst tacklers in the league.

 Reggie Nelson-DB - Jaguars Dec. 28 - 11:44 am et

Jaguars FS Reggie Nelson was benched in favor of Anthony Smith Sunday.
Nelson remained in on nickel packages and was predictably burned on Sammy Morris' 55-yard run. Nelson has been a huge disappointment this year, which will force the Jags to address the safety position in the offseason.

 Reggie Nelson-DB - Jaguars Dec. 18 - 5:12 pm et

After FS Reggie Nelson was beaten for two touchdowns in the Jags' Week 15 loss to Indianapolis, coach Jack Del Rio called him out on Friday.
"Can't stay in the lineup playing like that," said JDR. It's nothing new, but Nelson refused to tackle Reggie Wayne on his 65-yard game-winning score, trying instead to pop the ball loose on a race down the sideline. If Wayne and Nelson's forty times were to be compared, there's no doubt that Nelson should've caught him. Nelson's regression over the last two years continues.

 Rashean Mathis-DB - Jaguars Nov. 19 - 9:14 am et

Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills.
It's unclear exactly how long Mathis will be out, but it could be multiple games. When Mathis missed the Week 8 loss to the Titans with a finger injury, FS Reggie Nelson shifted to corner. We would say to upgrade the Bills passing game, but the arm of Ryan Fitzpatrick negates any advantage gained here.

 Reggie Nelson-DB - Jaguars Nov. 2 - 5:57 pm et

Usual Jaguars FS Reggie Nelson started Sunday's loss to the Titans at cornerback and struggled badly.
"He had a tough day," coach Jack Del Rio said. "He...struggled with the tackling part of it. For him to continue to play, he’s got to play better." Nelson hasn't been an efficient tackler since entering the NFL in 2007 and now seems to be losing confidence. He probably won't play corner again soon.
