Patrick Willis has bowed out of the Pro Bowl with a "slight" right knee injury.
Per beat writer Matt Barrows, Willis is dealing with swelling from bursitis. The Niners insist he would be "good to go" if it was a regular season game. Panthers LB Jon Beason, who should have been invited all along, is taking his place.

Chris Johnson was the only player unanimously voted to The Associated Press 2009 NFL All-Pro team.
49ers ILB Patrick Willis came closest to matching Johnson, with 49 out of 50 votes. Charles Woodson and Darrelle Revis each garnered 48 out of 50 votes at corner back. Adrian Peterson nailed the second running back spot while MVP Peyton Manning was voted in at quarterback.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Monday that he had never seen "an effort out of a linebacker" like the one Patrick Willis put forth in Week 9.
"[Chris Johnson] would have had three more touchdowns had he not been on the field," said Fisher. "It was an outstanding defensive effort by Patrick Willis." Fisher said Willis was only player on the field who could catch Johnson, which is a shocking statement. Willis is playing as well as any linebacker in the league this season.

49ers ILB Patrick Willis had eight tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception return for a touchdown, and three QB hurries in Week 4.
Said beat writer Matt Maiocco, "It might have been the most complete game of his NFL career," which is saying something. Willis is seventh in the league in tackles (37/29 solo), which is down for him, but is making up for it with big plays in coverage. His five pass breakups are more than any linebacker.

Patrick Willis (ankle/Achilles) will see his first game action of the preseason Saturday against the Cowboys.
Willis was injured early in camp during coach Mike Singletary's physical "nutcracker" drill. He'll be fine for the regular season.

Patrick Willis (ankle) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders.
The 49ers are just being extra careful with their all-world linebacker. He practiced on a limited basis this week and will resume practicing fully next week.
