Bears DE Gaines Adams passed away Sunday morning for undisclosed reasons. Profootballtalk.com reports that Adams is "believed" to have suffered a heart attack.
The Greenwood (SC) County Coroner said Adams "appeared to be in perfect health," so it appears his death was tragically a fluke. An autopsy will be done later today. Adams, the No. 4 overall pick in 2007, racked up 13 sacks, 76 tackles, and two interceptions in his first two seasons with Tampa before being dealt to Chicago prior to October's trade deadline. He was slated for a major role in 2010, likely replacing free agent LE Adewale Ogunleye as a starter. Source: Profootballtalk on NBC Sports
