Colts WR Roy Hall cleared waivers and was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Hall missed 13 games in his rookie season with a shoulder injury and was sidelined the majority of last season with a knee injury. The Colts haven't disclosed Hall's latest injury. His Indy career is likely over.

Colts waived/injured WR Roy Hall.
Offseason reports had Hall as a contender for the No. 3 receiver job, but he never had a realistic shot of beating out Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie. Hall never produced in college and remains a tight end/receiver tweener at 6'3/240.

Without prompting, Peyton Manning singled out Pierre Garcon and Anthony Gonzalez as receievers that need to step up.
It's interesting that Manning said Garcon and didn't mention Roy Hall or Austin Collie. If Garcon really does step up and take over the No. 3 WR job, he'll be a deep sleeper to keep an eye on. Especially if he has Manning's eye already.

Pierre Garcon has the lead in the battle for the Colts' No. 3 WR job, but it looks like it will be a position by committee.
Garcon was a sixth-round pick in 2008 and has good speed. He's competing with Roy Hall, who has the size and rookie Austin Collie, who is reminding some of Brandon Stokley in the slot. The third receiver can have value in Indy, but with this group it will take an injury to Reggie Wayne or Anthony Gonzalez to make one startable.

Beat writer Mike Chappell says Pierre Garcon is, "probably the front-runner" for the Colts' No. 3 receiver position.
He looks to be ahead of injury prone Roy Hall and rookie Austin Collie. The Colts' third receiver is always a candidate for 45-60 catches, and would be a potential fantasy starter if Anthony Gonzalez or Reggie Wayne went down.

The Colts' third receiver job is expected to come down to Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon.
Garcon has drawn praise from coach Jim Caldwell and Peyton Manning while Collie has shown reliable hands in practice. Roy Hall is officially in the mix as well, but Garcon and Collie appear to be slightly ahead.
