Coach Tom Coughlin confirmed on Friday that Aaron Rouse will start at free safety in place of the struggling C.C. Brown.
Brown has struggled mightily with the deep ball and was constantly biting on play action. The Giants' front seven needs to get more pressure to help out the weak secondary, as Rouse is also a liability in coverage. Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd are still good plays for the Chargers in Week 9.

Aaron Rouse worked as the Giants' first-team safety at Friday's practice, indicating a move away from struggling FS C.C. Brown.
Brown was biting on play action and was the victim on DeSean Jackson's 54-yard touchdown in Week 8. Rouse, however, is also a liability in coverage. The Giants need more front-seven pressure for their secondary to recover.

Giants claimed S Aaron Rouse off waivers from the Packers.
C.C. Brown will likely step into Kenny Phillips' starting strong safety spot, but the Giants had zero depth beyond him. Though Rouse has promise as a 2007 third-rounder, his shaky coverage skills led to his recent release from the Packers.

Packers waived S Aaron Rouse.
Quite a surprise, and a statement about Rouse's ability. The 2007 third-round pick started just four days ago and had nine tackles, but suffered a stinger and will probably clear waivers because he's less than 100 percent.

Packers SS Atari Bigby (knee) isn't expected back for "about a month."
And he may not have a starting job when he returns. Bigby's constant injuries make him unreliable. Aaron Rouse is a solid alternative in IDP leagues.

Packers 2007 third-round S Aaron Rouse is reportedly in danger of not making the team this year.
Rouse, an impressive athlete, is poor in coverage and hasn't been able to stay healthy the past two seasons. Former Steeler Anthony Smith was signed as a free agent, and Charles Woodson could also see time at safety again.
