Alexander is a third-year pro that spent most of last season on the Vikings' practice squad. The Lions are thin at linebacker heading into Saturday's preseason game with Ernie Sims (ribs) and Darnell Bing (shoulder) on the sidelines. Don't expect Alexander to stick around too long.

Alexander's addition is a strong indication that the Colts are planning to be without Gary Brackett for Week 14 and possibly behind. The former Big 12 Defensive POY, Alexander has experience in the Tampa 2 and can cover kicks.
