 Matt Prater-K - Broncos Sep. 4 - 2:35 pm et

Broncos K Matt Prater finished the preseason 7-for-7 on field goals.
Prater entered camp on a short leash and was even booed at an early scrimmage. But he's proven the Broncos were right not to bring in any competition. He's got a ridiculously strong leg but his accuracy is shaky. You can probably find a less risky play, especially if your league gives out negative points for missed field goals.

Matt Prater remains the only kicker in camp for the Broncos.
That doesn't mean he won't be on a short leash. If the notoriously inconsistent boomer struggles this preseason, the Broncos know John Carney and Matt Stover are a phone call away. Kyle Orton drew the headlines for getting booed, but Prater was also heckled relentlessly at last week's Fanfest.

The Broncos still have not brought in competition for K Matt Prater, and no kicker signing appears to be imminent.
"That means a lot, especially with a new coach," Prater said. "They brought in a lot of new guys, and they didn't bring in a kicker, so that's a confidence-builder for me." Prater fell to pieces down the stretch last year, missing eight field goals in the last eight games. John Carney remains available.

 Matt Prater-K - Broncos Mar. 30 - 8:36 am et

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels confirmed that he has faith in incumbent K Matt Prater.
Though Prater's huge leg gives him a ton of value on kickoffs, he's going to have to show a lot more consistency on field goals from 35-50 yards. The Broncos are expected to bring in another young kicker this summer, but Prater will be the heavy favorite.

 Matt Prater-K - Broncos Mar. 8 - 10:04 am et

Broncos K Matt Prater is slated to keep his job "as it stands now."
The Denver Post expects a young kicker to be brought in to compete, but the Broncos are not yet ready to give up on Prater's big leg. He'll have to improve on his consistency if he wants to hang around long term.
