Reggie Bush (questionable, knee) missed his third straight practice Friday and appears unlikely to play at Tampa Bay.
Pierre Thomas will carry the load in an ideal matchup, with Mike Bell chipping in as an early-down change of pace back. Coach Sean Payton said Bush likely wouldn't even be available for punt return duties. The Saints want to avoid a setback with Bush's knee, which he's had surgically repaired several times before. They'll likely play it safe so he's available for the stretch run.

The swelling that has kept Reggie Bush out of practice this week is to the left knee that has given him trouble in the past.
"Hopefully we can practice him tomorrow," said coach Sean Payton. "At the same time, I don't want to set it back." Bush is coming off a heavier than usual workload at St. Louis, and the knee flareup will likely have Payton thinking twice about expanding his role down the stretch.

Pierre Thomas was held to 37 yards on 11 rushes and a five-yard catch in the Saints' Week 10 win over the Rams.
The Saints weren't able to get comfortable against the suddenly inspired Rams and didn't have the luxury of running out the clock in the fourth quarter. Thomas was on the field plenty, but he didn't play a major role in the tight victory. He should be relied upon more often in Week 11 against the Bucs.

Pierre Thomas saw 23 snaps while Mike Bell got just eight reps in the Week 9 win over the Panthers.
Thomas is asserting himself as the feature back once again, even if it was just one week. He's the more talented runner and is emerging as the red zone option as well. Reggie Bush led the team's backs with 30 snaps, but he got just two carries. Thomas has a beautiful matchup with the Rams this week.

Pierre Thomas rushed 13 times for 50 yards and a touchdown and added five receptions for 31 yards against the Panthers in Week 9.
Carolina's run defense is much improved over the past month, and Thomas got more yards than what was blocked. He was also heavily involved in the passing game on screen plays. Thomas received 18 touches to just five for Mike Bell, and he remains the Saints' feature back as well as the primary red zone option. He's a must-start against the Rams next week.

Pierre Thomas rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries, and had two catches for 9 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' Week 8 win.
Thomas controlled the ground game, thrashing the Falcons' smallish front seven. He got most of the Saints' red-zone touches after appearing to lose that job last week to Mike Bell. Thomas has some plus matchups on the horizon, as the Saints face Carolina next week and go to St. Louis in Week 10. Again the favorite for goal-line work in New Orleans, consider Thomas a RB1 going forward.
