Bills activated WR James Hardy (knee) from the PUP list.
Hardy will get a chance to show the Bills he's worth something long term; the 2008 second-round pick did nothing last year before tearing his ACL. Hardy will be a backup, but Buffalo may as well get him lots of practice reps.

Coach Dick Jauron says the Bills plan to activate WR James Hardy (ACL surgery) from the PUP list this week.
Currently on a bye, the Bills will have to cut another player to make room for their second-year receiver. Hardy showed next to nothing in his first season, and it's unclear what his role will be. We're guessing he'll be inactive on most game days, rather than work into the mix as a third receiver.

Bills WR James Hardy (PUP, knee) returned to practice Wednesday.
The team has three weeks to activate Hardy, but he won't make a difference on the field. The 41st pick overall in 2008 had nine catches as a rookie. Already lacking in explosion, he is coming off reconstructive knee surgery.

This means Hardy can't practice with the team until after Week 6. The 2008 second-round pick will probably have to look to the 2010 season to try to justify that draft status.

Last year's seconder James Hardy (ACL surgery) is expected to start the season on the Reserve/PUP list.
Hardy's knee isn't ready for a full week of practice, and the Bills are deep at wideout. He can be written off as a fantasy factor in 2009, and his long-term outlook is extremely cloudy.

Bills placed WRs James Hardy and C.J. Hawthorne on active/PUP.
Hardy, last year's second-round pick, is recovering from January ACL surgery. Hawthorne had an undisclosed surgery on his leg during June minicamps. Both players can rejoin the active roster as soon as they pass a physical. Considering the Bills' depth at receiver, Hardy is likely to open the season on the full-blown PUP list and miss the first six games.
