Steve Slaton will start for the Texans against the Titans on Monday night.
We thought that Slaton would have to prove he can hold on to the ball before getting his starting job back, but coach Gary Kubiak is apparently convinced. Slaton's role was due to grow anyway because he's clearly their best back, but this a great sign that he has his coach's confidence. Look for Slaton to still share carries with Chris Brown and Ryan Moats, but we like him as a solid flex play this week.

Texans activated RB Arian Foster from the practice squad.
This is a situation worth watching. Foster may initially see time on special teams, but coach Gary Kubiak made it clear that he wants to see more of the rookie on offense. Foster was considered an early-round prospect before an injury-plagued senior season at Tennessee. If the current trio can't improve their fumbling issues and 3.4 YPC, Foster could get a shot later on.

Steve Slaton has begun watching tapes of former Giants RB Tiki Barber in hopes of solving his fumbling problems.
Slaton has fumbled the ball an NFL-high eight times this season, though coach Gary Kubiak has lauded him for his work ethic. "For us to play well in the next seven weeks, Steve will have to be a big part of that," said Kubiak. Slaton will have to prove that he can hold onto the football before he gets his starting job back.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak called his backfield situation "a day-to-day deal" Tuesday, reiterating that he'll need all three backs.
"I want to see how Steve responds and comes back from this break. I want to see how Ryan responds and Chris being as fresh as he can be," said Kubiak. For now, we're expecting the Texans to ride the hot hand if one emerges. If not, Moats will work on early downs with Slaton coming on in passing situations.

Steve Slaton rushed six times for 17 yards and a touchdown, and caught three passes for 12 yards in the Texans' Week 9 loss to the Colts.
Slaton converted his goalline carry in the fourth quarter only after Ryan Moats was stuffed the play before. Slaton is seeing less and less action as the season rolls on and shouldn't be trusted in fantasy leagues unless there's an injury to another member of the Houston backfield.

Steve Slaton will come off the bench for the Texans Sunday against the Colts.
Owners should hardly give up on Slaton because of the news. He should still get the ball plenty Sunday, although he's not a recommended flex option this week. It would surprise us if Slaton doesn't regain the starting job this season and still provide some big fantasy weeks.
