Devin Thomas was held catch-less in the Redskins' Week 9 loss.
Thomas, unsurprisingly, did not build on his somewhat promising 3-45-1 line in the Skins' last game. He gave poor effort on a target in the intermediate area down the sideline, and was only thrown to by Jason Campbell one other time. Malcolm Kelly had one catch for four yards.

The Redskins demoted Malcolm Kelly from his starting flanker job in large part because of his route running.
Kelly is blaming the fact that he missed the majority of his rookie year due to a knee injury for his troubles, but the bottom line is he simply isn't a great route runner. His size (6'4/227) was expected to give Jason Campbell a red zone threat, but that hasn't come close to happening. Kelly is not even much of a prospect in dynasty leagues.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn indicated that Devin Thomas' ascension to the starting lineup is a permanent move.
Zorn pointed to Thomas' improved work ethic, knowledge of the offense, and concentration as reasons for the move. While it won't be enough to give him fantasy value this season, it's a good sign for his Dynasty league value.

Devin Thomas will replace Malcolm Kelly in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Thomas isn't a fantasy option because Washington's offense is so weak and he's shown virtually nothing since being drafted in the 2008 second round, but he at least may give the Skins more speed outside. Kelly simply wasn't getting open. Thomas is a burner and might be able to open things up.

Malcolm Kelly revealed that he suffered ligament damage in his right thumb in Week 3 against the Rams.
The injury won't keep Kelly from practicing or playing, but he's experiencing pain every time he catches the ball. Kelly wasn't a reliable producer before the injury, and this certainly won't help him hold off Devin Thomas.

Jason Campbell says he wants to get Malcolm Kelly more involved, but "you can't force it."
Force it? We're pretty sure Kelly isn't getting bracketed like he's Steve Smith or something. Clearly, it has more to do with Kelly's separation skills. He has just six catches for 65 yards on the season as a starter.
