 Brett Ratliff-QB- BrownsNov. 3 - 9:25 pm et
Coach Eric Mangini reiterated that third-stringer Brett Ratliff is not a candidate to take over as the Browns' starting QB.
Mangini seems to be leaning towards staying with Derek Anderson rather than benching the ineffective passer. Ratliff showed promise in the Jets' 2008 preseason, but isn't getting consideration to take over during the bye.

 Derek Anderson-QB - Browns Oct. 26 - 2:58 pm et

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Browns are not considering a change at quarterback, and coach Eric Mangini confirmed the news Monday.
Schefter says Mangini has already "seen enough" from Brady Quinn to know he isn't the answer, and there are no indications that third QB Brett Ratliff is close to challenging Derek Anderson. D.A. is completing 32.3% of his passes in the last three games, with one touchdown and five turnovers.

 Brady Quinn-QB - Browns Oct. 13 - 11:17 am et

Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot speculates that Brady Quinn could be traded before the Oct. 20 deadline.
We know the Browns aren't afraid to trade Phil Savage's old first-round picks (see Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards). Quinn is the clear No. 2 QB now behind Derek Anderson, despite Anderson's 15.1 passer rating in Week 5. Kay Cabot says the Browns took calls on Quinn last summer and it's possible coach Eric Mangini would rather go with Brett Ratliff as his backup.

 Brett Ratliff-QB - Browns Oct. 1 - 8:28 pm et

Browns coach Eric Mangini shot down speculation that ex-Jet Brett Ratliff could be next in line for the starting quarterback job.
"No, he really just gets the [scout] team reps, the bulk of them," Mangini said. Ratliff won't be starting any time soon, so Brady Quinn will get another shot when Derek Anderson fails.

 Brady Quinn-QB - Browns Sep. 28 - 10:48 am et

Browns coach Eric Mangini said he'll make a decision on a starting quarterback early this week.
And, what, let the Bengals prepare for the starter ahead of time? That's preposterous. Mangini may have already lost his team, and the quarterback choice won't save the season. In contrast to Oakland's wide berth for JaMarcus Russell, former first-round pick Brady Quinn has been given just five starts before being pulled as the starter.

 Brady Quinn-QB - Browns Sep. 27 - 11:27 pm et

Brady Quinn says he has not been informed who the Browns will start at quarterback in Week 4.
Quinn was pulled for Derek Anderson at halftime Sunday after turning the football over for a fifth time in 10 quarters and managing a paltry 62.9 QB rating. But Anderson definitely didn't earn Eric Mangini's nod after throwing three picks in the second half alone. Expect Brett Ratliff's reps to increase substantially this week. He could start vs. Cincinnati if he practices well.
