Redskins QB Colt Brennan, who is out for the year, underwent surgery to repair a torn left labrum in his hip this week.
It's his second hip surgery since entering the pros. Doctors confirmed that Brennan's preseason hamstring problems resulted from the ongoing hip injury. He will return in 2010 to compete for a roster spot.

Colt Brennan said a torn labrum in his hip is what led to his season-ending hamstring problem.
Brennan, who went on I.R. Saturday, created some buzz for himself last preseason and was viewed as a possible sucessor to Jason Campbell, but a poor preseason this year stopped all that talk. The Redskins' quarterback situation will be very interesting next season, but Brennan's chronic hip woes (he also had surgery on the joint in 2008) can only work against him.

Redskins placed QB Colt Brennan (hamstring) on injured reserve.
An MRI revealed that Brennan had a torn hamstring after he had to leave Thursday's game. This seems to open up the No. 3 quarterback spot for Chase Daniel, but it's not guaranteed yet.

Chase Daniel completed 8-of-16 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown and rushed three times for 17 yards against the Jaguars Thursday night.
Daniels started the game horribly. When Colt Brennan, 10-of-14 for 83 yards, left with a hamstring injury, Daniel was forced back in and fared much better in garbage time. Still, the Chase Daniel era is over unless Brennan's hamstring injury is serious.

Redskins No. 3 QB Colt Brennan had his third straight poor preseason game Friday.
Brennan threw a bad interception that was returned 99 yards for a touchdown; his second goal-line interception in as many games. He later hit Marko Mitchell on a 33-yard touchdown pass and finished 6-of-12 for 81 yards. Chase Daniel, who's reportedly pushing Brennan for the No. 3 job, didn't play Friday.

Some members for the Redskins organization have reportedly been put off by Colt Brennan's arrogance.
The beef is that Brennan has a swagger that has been unearned at the NFL level. Since the start of training camp, he's gone from pushing Todd Collins at No. 2 to fighting for his own No. 3 spot with undrafted free agent Chase Daniel.
