Beat writer Ira Kaufman says that the Bucs are willing to trade backup QB Josh Johnson for a draft pick.
Johnson started four games this season before Josh Freeman took over and compiled a 51.0 passer rating while throwing eight picks. He did show some flashes and tremendous mobility, so the Bucs could probably do worse for a No. 2 quarterback.

Bucs coach Raheem Morris confirmed Wednesday that Josh Freeman is the team's new starting quarterback.
It's the Bucs' third QB change since the start of 2009, none of which resulted from injury. Freeman took two sacks, fumbled, and went 2-of-4 for 16 yards in his debut last week against New England. He completed just 44.9% of his preseason attempts with one TD and three picks. Grab Freeman if you're desperate in two-QB leagues, but there's not much hope for him this year.

Rookie Josh Freeman opened practice Wednesday with the first-team offense and is expected to be the Bucs' new starting QB after the Week 8 bye.
Coach Raheem Morris probably won't confirm Freeman's ascension until next Wednesday at the earliest, but the writing's been on the wall. Josh Johnson managed just 50.4% completions and a putrid 5.5 YPA while throwing eight interceptions in his five appearances. Freeman has a big arm, but is very raw and it's unclear how aggressive offensive coordinator Greg Olson will let him be. We'd be stunned if he closes out the year as a top-25 fantasy QB.

Josh Johnson was not angry after being pulled in favor of rookie Josh Freeman late in the Week 7 loss to the Patriots.
"It's the same situation that Byron (Leftwich) was in," said Johnson. "If we don't win games, Josh [Freeman] is going to play." Johnson sees the writing on the wall. Although no official announcement has been made, Freeman is expected to get in the saddle when the Bucs come out of their bye in Week 9.

Coach Raheem Morris did not commit to starting rookie QB Josh Freeman when the Bucs come out of their bye in Week 9.
Freeman made his NFL debut in garbage time of the Week 7 loss to the Patriots. Morris said he cleared the move with GM Mark Domenik, a sign that the organization is ready to see what they have with Freeman. Considering the Bucs are 0-7, it would be very surprising to see Josh Johnson back under center anytime soon. Freeman would not help the value of any Bucs' skill players.

Josh Johnson was pulled in favor of rookie Josh Freeman with about nine minutes left in Sunday's blowout against the Patriots.
The game was already well out of hand, so this isn't huge news. But with the bye week coming up this week, it's a sign that Freeman could be starting in Week 9 for the 0-7 Bucs. Johnson was erratic on the day, often missing high and finishing 9-of-26 for 156 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
