The Dolphins didn't trust Jake Long in one-on-one situations as much last Monday night as they had in Week 1.
Long went head-to-head against Dwight Freeney 15 times in Week 2 compared to 28 matchups with John Abraham in Week 1. The Fins moved help to his side several times last week, using either a tight end or LG Justin Smiley in a double team. Coach Tony Sparano said Long looked bad early on in Week 2 but got better. The team needs him to dominate for the offense to be successful.

Jake Long's struggles continued Sunday as he gave up two sacks against the Falcons.
The Dolphins have to be a little worried about their Pro Bowl left tackle. He struggled with speed rushers all preseason and even got beat by Falcons backup Kroy Biermann Sunday. Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said Monday Long's showing "wasn't a winning performance." He needs to be on top of his game for the Dolphins offense to succeed.

Dolphins LT Jake Long will square off against John Abraham, Dwight Freeney, and Shawne Merriman in the season's first three weeks.
Long is struggling to block speed rushers through two weeks of preseason, getting beat by Everette Brown on Saturday and Quentin Groves last week. Long already is one of the game's most dominant run-blocking left tackles, but he lacks elite athleticism. It will be put to the test right away.

Dolphins LT Jake Long confirmed that the right ankle he "tweaked" in the Pro Bowl is not seriously injured.
He called the injury "nothing" and said "I feel fine." The same ankle gave Long problems during the regular season, but he still started all 16 games.

Dolphins LT Jake Long injured his right ankle in Sunday's Pro Bowl loss.
The injury is only being called a "tweak." Long played right tackle in the game, which many scouts believed would be his best pro position due to a lack of ideal foot quickness. He was a terrific rookie left tackle, however.

Dolphins LT Jake Long finished his rookie year with only five penalties and 2.5 sacks allowed.
Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Chris Johnson, and even Ryan Clady got more praise, but Long was as steady as they come on Chad Pennington's blind side. Long was also very effective in the running game and will stay at left tackle in 2009.
