ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that DeSean Jackson and Chris Johnson's chances of getting new contracts this offseason are "not good."
Factoring in the economy and an uncapped 2010 season, Schefter says the new rules "are not going to help the young stars in the league right now." Jackson is signed through 2011, with base salaries of $470,000 and $555,000 forthcoming. He'll have a better shot at a new deal next offseason.

 Chris Johnson-RB - Titans Feb. 4 - 6:47 pm et

Coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday that it's "way too premature" to expect a new contract for Chris Johnson.
"Everybody wants more money, and he's not the first person to want more money. He just came out and said it," Fisher said. "And we can all understand why he wants more money." The Titans usually wait until the year before a player's contract is up to renegotiate, though they'll likely have to address the issue again next offseason.

Chris Johnson says he wants the Titans to make him at least the highest paid running back in the league.
"I deserve to be the highest paid running back in the league, or even the highest paid offensive player besides the quarterback," he said. C.J. insists that he won't use the media to his advantage in potential contract talks. He is signed through 2012, so the Titans don't need to be in a hurry.

Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt expects the team to limit Chris Johnson's carries and increase his receptions going forward.
Coach Jeff Fisher ran Eddie George into the ground, cutting his career short seven years ago. The Titans don't want a repeat of that with Johnson, who led the league in carries (358) and touches (408) in 2009. The coaching staff will continue to explore ways to get Johnson the ball in space, where he's most effective. He'll enter next season as the consensus No. 1 fantasy pick regardless.

Chris Johnson was the only player unanimously voted to The Associated Press 2009 NFL All-Pro team.
49ers ILB Patrick Willis came closest to matching Johnson, with 49 out of 50 votes. Charles Woodson and Darrelle Revis each garnered 48 out of 50 votes at corner back. Adrian Peterson nailed the second running back spot while MVP Peyton Manning was voted in at quarterback.

 Chris Johnson-RB - Titans Jan. 13 - 10:29 am et

The Associated Press has named Chris Johnson the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year.
It wasn't a close vote. Johnson received 38 1/2 of 50 votes, with Drew Brees' nine coming a distant second. Johnson became just the sixth player in NFL history to run for more than 2,000 yards, and set the record for most yards from scrimmage with 2,509. He ran for 100 or more yards in a ridiculous 11 straight games and totaled 16 touchdowns for a team that started 0-6. He'll get serious consideration to be the No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts next season.
