Packers placed WR Brett Swain on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.
The Packers haven't detailed the severity of the injury, but it appears to be a torn ACL. Swain appeared in four games this season without recording a catch. Though he Packers were high on the 2008 seventh-rounder, the injury will hurt his chances of sticking next season.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Monday that Jermichael Finley (knee sprain) is a "long shot" to play in Week 8.
McCarthy also revealed that fifth receiver Brett Swain needs year-ending knee surgery. Finley could also miss Week 9. The biggest beneficiary of his loss may be third wideout James Jones, who figures to play more and see increased targets on passing downs. He's worth owning in 12-team leagues.

Packers WR Brett Swain injured his knee while covering a kickoff in the second quarter Sunday and did not return.
Swain is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. When asked if he could have torn his ACL, Swain said, "It could be, I don't know." The Packers are already without Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley due to knee injuries.

In a surprise move, Brett Swain made the Packers over Ruvell Martin.
The Packers chose to go with Swain's upside over Martin's consistency. Swain will focus on special teams for the most part this year, but could be a name to keep an eye on down the line in the Packers' potent passing attack.

Packers released WR Ruvell Martin.
It's a pretty big surprise the veteran lost out to rookie Brett Swain. Martin had been pretty reliable over the last few seasons, but it looks like the Packers wanted Swain for his special teams play.
