Garrett Hartley became the first kicker to make three field goals of 40+ yards in one Super Bowl.
Hartley had ice in his veins as he split the uprights on all three of his chances from 44 yards out or more. He also nailed the game-winner in overtime of the NFC Championship game and went 9-for-11 in five regular season games. He'll return next season and will be one of the first fantasy kickers off the board.

Saints coach Sean Payton expressed confidence Monday in K Garrett Hartley, despite Hartley's miss of a 37-yard potential game winner in Sunday's shocking loss to the Buccaneers.
"I've got all the confidence in the world in him," Payton said. "He has established (confidence). I've seen him operate in big situations." Hartley has missed just two field goals in his career and will not lose his job.

Garrett Hartley's job is not in jeopardy despite missing a 37-yard potential game-winner during Sunday's loss to the Bucs.
Even if the Saints wanted to go back to veteran John Carney they couldn't because Carney is a kicking consultant. That prevents him from signing with any NFL team for the rest of the season. Hartley has made 23-of-25 field goals in his career and should be fine going forward.

John Carney was signed to a kicking consultant role for the Saints just days after being released.
The 21-year vet will offer pointers to Garrett Hartley. The consultant position means Carney won't be allowed to kick for the Saints or any other team for the rest of the season. Hartley's job is safe, as is Shaun Suisham's in Dallas.

Garrett Hartley will remain the Saints' kicker for the rest of the season following John Carney's release Tuesday.
Hartley has missed just one field goal (a 58-yard attempt) in his short career and has better range than Carney. With the Saints playing indoors this week and throughout the playoffs, he's the top fantasy asset at his position.

Carney's departure was a fait accompli after he was replaced by Hartley three weeks ago. The Saints weren't going to use two roster spots on kickers during the playoffs, and Hartley has been the more reliable option. Carney could draw interest in Dallas if Shaun Suisham falters.
