Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt says "it's just a matter of time" before rookie LB Gerald McRath becomes a full-time defensive fixture.
McRath was impressive filling in for David Thornton (hip) in Week 9. Thornton was limited in Wednesday's practice and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills.

 Gerald McRath-LB - Titans Nov. 9 - 10:00 am et

Titans rookie LB Gerald McRath started in place of David Thornton (hip) in the Week 9 win at San Francisco.
McRath played well in his first career NFL start, racking up four solo tackles and six tackles overall. It's unclear how long Thornton will be out.

Titans agreed to terms with fourth-round LB Gerald McRath on a multi-year contract.
McRath could've been a first-day pick had he stayed another year at Southern Miss, but he stood out at OTAs and will be one of the club's main backups outside. He could replace Keith Bulluck or David Thornton as a starter in time.

Titans selected Southern Miss LB Gerald McRath with the No. 130 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
McRath was the Golden Eagles' middle 'backer, but is likely too undersized to stay there in Tennessee's scheme, which requires a thumper up the gut. McRath figures to play special teams and back up SLB David Thornton.

Southern Miss LB Gerald McRath ran an official 4.61 forty-yard dash at the Scouting Combine.
McRath, who resembles fellow Southern Miss alum Michael Boley in stature, posted the third best time by an LB. This could put McRath in the third-round mix. He figures to begin his NFL career as a backup and special teamer.
 Gerald McRath-LB - Titans Jan. 4 - 11:37 pm et

Southern Miss LB Gerald McRath will forgo his senior season in college and enter the 2009 NFL Draft.
At middle linebacker in Southern Miss' 4-3 defense, McRath led the Golden Eagles with 137 tackles as a junior. The next closest on the team had only 84. McRath also chipped in 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 9.5 tackles for loss. However, at just 6'3/220 McRath will probably not stay inside in the pros. He will need to run well at the Combine to be a high draft pick.
