Texans coach Gary Kubiak says the goal for James Casey this offseason and going forward is to have him focus on one position.
Casey shuttled between fullback, tight end, H-back, and slot receiver in his first season, during which he managed just six catches all year. Focusing on one position would be nice, but there's little hope in fantasy for the Rice alum with Owen Daniels (ACL surgery) likely to be close to 100% by Week 1.

Texans TE James Casey saw just 12 offensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Rams.
The Texans only have two healthy tight ends right now (Joel Dreessen is the other), so two-tight end formations have been removed from the playbook for the most part. Casey remains the team's best pass-catching tight end, but his role is declining instead of expanding. He's not on the fantasy radar.

James Casey was targeted twice on third downs in the Week 11 loss to the Titans.
Not bad for a rookie coming off of knee surgery. It shows that Matt Schaub trusts Casey right out of the gate with Owen Daniels done for the season. Casey isn't a fantasy option yet, but his role should grow as the season goes on.

Texans rookie TE James Casey caught two passes for 33 yards in Week 11.
The former Rice University and minor league pitcher started for the Texans and saw his first extensive action of his rookie campaign. He is trying to replace the injured Owen Daniels but he is going to need time to connect with Matt Schaub. Casey is not a fantasy option yet.

Texans TE James Casey (knee surgery) has resumed practicing in full.
"He didn't miss anything today," coach Gary Kubiak said. "There have been no setbacks. He’s done a heckuva job to get back that fast." We expect Casey to take over as the primary pass-catching tight end, but it's advisable to hold off on starting him in fantasy leagues until he proves worthy.
