Scheduled to undergo surgery to strengthen a patella-stabilizing ligament in his left knee in two weeks, Mark Sanchez expects to be ready for "as many OTAs as possible."
Sanchez described the surgery as "partially arthroscopic" and "minimally invasive," and he insists he'll "definitely" be ready for training camp. Using a car analogy, doctors advised undergoing the procedure now to avoid constant upkeep down the road. The surgery shouldn't affect Sanchez's draft status this summer.

 Mark Sanchez-QB - Jets Feb. 2 - 9:17 am et

After receiving 2-3 opinions, Mark Sanchez has opted to have surgery on his left knee.
The surgery will involve stabilization of the patella tendon that Sanchez injured at USC. He'll have the operation in 2-3 weeks. The procedure is said to be arthroscopic, meaning Sanchez should be 100% no longer than two months after it. He'll miss some spring workouts, but won't be limited in training camp. The surgery doesn't affect Sanchez's 2010 fantasy outlook.

Updating a previous item, Mark Sanchez is considering elective surgery on his left knee to fix the patella stabilizing ligament.
The surgery would sideline him for two months. Sanchez first injured his left knee at USC in 2008, and it flared up on him at times early in his rookie season. It was his right knee that sustained a sprained PCL late in the season against the Bills. Sanchez is expected to make a decision on the surgery within the next week.

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum indicated that Mark Sanchez will be ready "well before training camp" if Dr. James Andrews recommends knee surgery.
A decision is expected to be made shortly. Tannenbaum indicated that only one knee would possibly need surgery while the other knee would be rehabbed. The surgery would be minor in nature, which would leave Sanchez plenty of time to recover over the next few months.

Mark Sanchez reportedly made a precautionary visit to Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday to have his right knee examined.
The exam appears to be simply part of a post-season exit process, and Sanchez will also have his left knee checked out. The right knee issue stems from Sanchez's sprained PCL suffered in Week 13 against the Bills. His strong playoff performance should alleviate any major concerns about his knees heading into the offseason.

Mark Sanchez completed 17-of-30 passes for 257 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the Jets' AFC Championship Game loss to Indianapolis.
The interception essentially came in garbage time, with the Jets down two scores late in the fourth quarter. Sanchez turned in one of his best games of an up-and-down rookie season, but was handicapped when the Jets instituted an ultraconservative game plan to open the second half, instead of going with what was working. Sanchez was aggressive, often to a fault, throughout his rookie year, but we see that as a good thing. While the Jets will stay run heavy in 2010, Sanchez will be worth a late-round fantasy pick as a mid- to low-level QB2. He certainly does not lack explosive weaponry.
