Patriots LT Matt Light revealed that his mid-season right knee injury was a dislocated kneecap with minor MCL damage.
Light missed five games with the injury, though rookie Sebastian Vollmer stepped right in and shut down opposing pass rushers. Due $4.5M in the final year of his contract, Light could be a cap casualty this offseason.

Patriots OT Sebastian Vollmer, healthy for the first time in two weeks, rotated with LT Matt Light and RT Nick Kaczur Sunday.
"I think that was probably good for them to get a little break," Bill Belichick said. With ideal size and athleticism, Vollmer has surprisingly been the team's best tackle even as a rookie. It will be hard to keep him off the field.

 Fred Taylor-RB - Patriots Dec. 5 - 8:02 pm et

The Patriots have downgraded RB Fred Taylor, WR Julian Edelman, CB Shawn Springs, OT Sebastian Vollmer, and S Bret Lockett to out for Week 13.
Taylor did some practicing on Friday, but was never expected to suit up against the Dolphins. He may return on a limited basis in Week 14 against the Panthers. Edelman's absence means Sam Aiken will be the Pats' No. 3 receiver. Matt Light has regained his starting left tackle job from Vollmer.

Patriots LT Matt Light started Monday night for the first time since injuring his knee in Week 5.
Light was pressed into duty with Sebastian Vollmer (head) out. He rotated with Mark LeVoir to stay fresh and came out of the game in good shape. It remains unclear who will be the starter when Vollmer returns to action.

 Sebastian Vollmer-T - Patriots Nov. 28 - 4:35 pm et

Patriots LT Sebastian Vollmer (head) will likely miss Monday's game against the Saints.
Coach Bill Belichick won't say if Vollmer has a concussion, but the impressive rookie almost certainly does. He missed the entire week of practice. The Patriots have plenty of depth along the offensive line with Matt Light ready to return.

Patriots rookie LT Sebastian Vollmer left Sunday's game against the Jets with a head injury, but later returned.
Vollmer was replaced by Mark LeVoir. The Patriots should be fine at the position with Matt Light almost ready to return from his knee injury.
