 Julian Edelman-WR- PatriotsJan. 10 - 4:35 pm et
Julian Edelman caught six balls for 44 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' Wild Card round loss to Baltimore.
Edelman's hands aren't as good as Wes Welker's but he's nearly as quick, plenty fearless going over the middle, and decisive after the catch. Both of the rookie's touchdowns came deep in the red zone. With Welker unlikely to be ready for Week 1 in 2010, Edelman will likely enter the season as the Pats' No. 1 slot receiver, meaning he'll be draftable in all fantasy leagues.

 Tom Brady-QB - Patriots Jan. 7 - 4:07 pm et

Tom Brady (ribs, shoulder, finger) is practicing in full this week.
The reports about Brady playing through broken ribs and a fractured may have just surfaced recently, but he's already over the worst of it. Ben Watson (knee) and Julian Edelman (arm) are also practicing in full this week.

 Julian Edelman-WR - Patriots Jan. 5 - 1:11 pm et

In the three games that Wes Welker missed the majority of, rookie Julian Edelman averaged seven catches for 74 yards and scored one touchdown.
With Welker (knee) out for the playoffs, Edelman is in the spotlight. He's not nearly as good at getting open or making people miss as Welker, but he should see plenty of targets as a possesion receiver out of the slot. The Patriots will probably attack the Ravens through the air in their Wild Card game Sunday.

 Wes Welker-WR - Patriots Jan. 3 - 6:37 pm et

ESPN's Adam Schefter and the Boston Globe both report that Wes Welker has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and MCL.
It's the same injury that knocked Tom Brady out for the season in 2008. Unfortunately, Welker won't get the same 16-week head start to rehab. Barring a borderline miraculous recovery, Welker will be a strong candidate to begin next year on the PUP list, which would keep him out until Week 7. Julian Edelman will be the Pats' primary slot receiver in the postseason, and most likely keep the job through the start of 2010.

 Julian Edelman-WR - Patriots Jan. 3 - 5:45 pm et

Julian Edelman caught 10 passes for 103 yards against the Texans in Week 17.
Edelman started the game as the No. 3 receiver but moved to Wes Welker's role after the Pats' leading receiver suffered a serious knee injury. Edelman isn't quite as quick or as sure-handed as Welker, but he does a pretty convincing impersonation of the slot machine. With Welker likely out for the playoffs, Edelman will step in as the starter opposite Randy Moss.
 Wes Welker-WR - Patriots Jan. 3 - 1:50 pm et

Wes Welker is officially done for the day after leaving early in the first quarter with a potentially serious left knee injury.
Julian Edelman is going to be a hot pickup in playoff leagues this week. Welker's injury certainly looked to be of the multiple week variety, and he ended up being carted to the locker room after an emotional showing on the sidelines. Tom Brady and Randy Moss remain in the game as of mid-second quarter.
