Dolphins OLB Joey Porter reiterated on the NFL Network Sunday his desire to play for another team next season.
"I still have a lot of years of football left … but strapping on that jersey, yes this year is the last time," he said. Assuming the Fins can't get a late-round pick for him, Porter figures to be released at the end of the month.

Beat writer Armando Salguero insists Joey Porter has "played his final game for the Dolphins. This I know."
Porter has lambasted the Dolphins on radio row all week, and his teammates have surprisingly come to his defense. His relationship with coach Tony Sparano is irreparable at this point, and he's seen as a "progress stopper" for Cameron Wake.

Dolphins OLB Joey Porter revealed that he and Tony Sparano never spoke a word to each other after his mid-November suspension.
"I'm a captain, but I'm not going to the captain meetings," said Porter. "He's not meeting with me anymore. How do you come back?" The Dolphins weren't likely to bring him back regardless, and Porter's recent comments have cemented his exit from Miami. He lists the Chargers, 49ers, and Cardinals as teams he'd like to play for in 2010.

Dolphins beat writer Armando Salguero believes that the team has no choice but to release Joey Porter.
Salguero says Porter "has all but sealed his fate" by making the issue public during his Monday trade request on ESPN's Jim Rome Show. Coach Tony Sparano has reportedly also "soured" on the pass rusher, while Bill Parcells was never a fan. At age 33, Porter isn't worth his 2010 pay of $4.8 million.

Appearing on ESPN's Jim Rome Show Monday, Joey Porter said he wants the Dolphins to trade him this offseason.
Good luck. Porter had nine sacks last season, but turns 33 next month, carries all kinds of attitude-related baggage, and is due $4.8 million in salary and bonuses in 2010. No longer an effective every-down player, he was already a candidate for release. The Fins will make outside linebacker a priority this offseason, and Porter likely isn't in the plans.

Joey Porter told a radio station in his hometown of Bakersfield, California that he hopes he doesn't have to return to Miami.
We're fairly certain Porter will get his wish, especially with a $1M signing bonus due on top of his $3.6M base salary. The trash talker was unproductive this season, was essentially suspended for a game with pay and clashed with the coaches. His agent is set for a meeting with the Dolphins this week.
