In addition to cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland, FS Kerry Rhodes' future with the Jets is in doubt this offseason.

The Jets won't pick up Sheppard's $10M roster bonus, making him a free agent. Strickland played in just nine games due to a string of injuries, and the Jets can't count on him to stay healthy. Rhodes is due a $2M roster bonus, and coach Rex Ryan has been a cryptic about his free safety's future ever since a late-November benching. The team could try to deal him for a mid-round pick.

Jets CB Lito Sheppard revealed after the team's AFC title game loss that he found out he was benched at Wednesday's practice.

Sheppard ended up playing (and getting beat) extensively anyway after nickel back Donald Strickland went out with a first-quarter groin injury. Due a $10M roster bonus this March, Sheppard is headed for unrestricted free agency.

It's rumored that Lito Sheppard is being dropped from the Jets' base defense for Sunday's AFC Championship Game.

Sheppard would be replaced at right corner by Dwight Lowery. The Jets figure to be in the nickel for most of the day anyway, but beat writer Rich Cimini says Lito may be relegated all the way to the dime. This confirms that Sheppard, who appeared in four Championship Games with the Eagles, is among the more overrated corners in the league.

The Jets are not expected to exercise RCB Lito Sheppard's $10 million roster bonus this offseason.

Per Scout.com's Adam Caplan, the conditional 2010 draft pick that the Eagles are due to receive could have escalated to a second-rounder if Sheppard played 85 percent of the snaps this season. He's already missed five games due to injuries, which will limit his value when he hits unrestricted free agency in the offseason.

Jets CB Dwight Lowery left Sunday's game against the Patriots with an ankle injury. His return is questionable.

Lowery hurt his ankle while bringing back a kickoff. He was replaced in the secondary by Lito Sheppard, who lost his job to Lowery last week.

Jets coach Rex Ryan revealed that CB Dwight Lowery will get the starting nod over Lito Sheppard on Sunday.

Ryan tried to say Sheppard isn't starting because of his season-long quadriceps injury, but he's struggled on the field all year and may have lost his job outright. Lowery has good ball skills and will be targeted often opposite Darrelle Revis. He's a solid cornerback pickup in IDP leagues.
